Digbi Health, which dubs itself a precision digital therapeutics (pDTx) company, announced this week it is now available to Blue Shield of California members on the health plan’s Wellvolution platform. The Digbi service will provide personalized obesity and type 2 diabetes management programs based on the each member’s unique DNA, gut biome, lifestyle, and ethnicity.
“Doctors and payers understand that obesity and diabetes are multifactorial diseases, and one-size-fits-all diet and exercise weight loss and diabetes programs do not deliver patient engagement and sustained health results,” said Ranjan Sinha, CEO, and founder of Digbi Health, in a press release. “We are the first company to operationalize a DNA and gut microbiome-based prescription-grade platform for doctors and payers to deliver weight loss and diabetes programs at scale.”
Wellvolution is the online health management platform created by California Blue in a partnership with Solera Holdings designed to allow the health plan’s members to take a proactive, customized approach to management their health and wellness.
Blue Shield of California launched Wellvolution in June for its 4.3 million members. The digital therapeutics platform it features a selection of about 70 digital health apps (out of more than 300,000 currently available in the Apple App Store), curated for clinical effectiveness and consumer preference.
“Digbi Health is a strong fit for Wellvolution, which is designed to drive sustained engagement and outcomes by matching members to the program that best meets their needs,” said Brenda Schmidt, CEO, Solera Health.
Digbi Health currently partners with both insurers and individual employers to provide health and wellness services that also include coordination with food suppliers to provide members with foods optimized to an individual’s unique body chemistry and molecular composition. It also offers weight loss and diabetes management services directly to consumers for under a monthly subscription model.
